Megan Tian is a junior at Lakeridge High School. She is passionate about science, technology, community engagement and service. Outside of school, she plays violin, competes in speech and debate, serves on Lake Oswego’s city-wide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Board, and leads the software division of the Lake Monsters robotics team. This year, she is the concertmaster of the Portland Youth Conservatory Orchestra. On her robotics team, she is heavily involved in outreach initiatives and has taught coding workshops about Java, HTML/CSS, and hardware programming using the BBC micro:bit and Microsoft’s MakeCode editor. Over the summer, Megan co-taught two months of free online debate classes, teaching local middle schoolers how to research and analyze various topics and current events.

Oregon Chinese Coalition is proud to join the President of the United States in recognizing the volunteers who consistently take the time to make a difference in the lives of others. Therefore, it is a great honor to present the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) to Megan Tian.
